Byron Veterinary Clinic is part of a wider group of surgeries linked with Ashfield House Veterinary Hospital, which is also where the group’s 24/7 emergency service is provided. Based on the clinic website, it offers routine care (such as vaccinations, nurse clinics and neutering) and has access to more advanced procedures through the wider group (the website specifically mentions complex surgeries and “keyhole” laparoscopic spays carried out at Ashfield House).
In the latest reviews available to us, owners describe both ends of the experience spectrum: some credit the team with saving a cat’s life and helping a seriously ill dog recover, while others focus on dissatisfaction with communication and charges (including feeling ignored when raising concerns, and surprise fees for follow-up appointments).

Explicit charges mentioned in reviews
A “monthly pet plan” is referenced in reviews, and another owner notes the plan was changed to include a consultation and a discount for blood tests (no price or full inclusions stated).

Sadly to say they only care about your money but won’t help you if you got any concern or need to talk to anyone they will ignore you, shocking customer service (And please don’t ask me to email you with my concern because you won’t reply anyway)

I have my dogs registered here and they are amazing. My daughter’s dog was seriously ill recently too and they went above and beyond so her dog made a full recovery against the odds. I volunteer for a rescue so experience a lot of vets, and can honestly say they are one of the best in the country.

I’m so happy we switched over to this practice. Had a very scary experience last year with our cat and they took amazing care of her, saved her life. We went earlier this week for routine health checks and they’ve now changed their payment plan to include more stuff such as a consultation and discount for blood tests! Vet Ben was brilliant and managed to vaccinate our scared dog without her even noticing! Thank you ☺️

I had to take one of my dogs in as an emergency with a possible broken bone, the Byron practice were great but unfortunately there was only one vet in that day so they gave her meds and sent me to the Long Eaton practice. Arrived at the Long Eaton practice, I cannot complain about the treatment they looked after her well, the staff here were also lovely and friendly and informative. I received a large bill to find out her leg / foot is severely bruised and not broken, not a problem I expected it paid it and left happy. I made an appointment for a few days later before leaving for a check up as the vet requested, didn't query it as it's standard after treatment that they follow up with a check up done it many times before. We went for the check up she was seen quickly, I was asked if she was ok, which she was and he looked at her leg without touching her. We were in there probably 2-3 mins at most. He told me to make an appointment for the following Monday, which this time I didn't as I didn't think it was necessary and would ring to make one if I was concerned as she was already like nothing happened other than being a little tender, now I am glad I didn't. Two weeks later (Today) I get an email with a statement no biggie my horse vet sends them out periodically. I glance over it to see I have been charged for the follow up £45. I rang and apparently they charge for all visits regardless. This is new to me I've had and have a lot of animals of all types made many visits to various vets and have never been charged for the follow up visit, never. I've quizzed a few of my friends and none of them have ever experienced a charge for a follow up visit before. I honestly feel while I have no complaints about the care of my dog, and the staff being lovely and friendly, I was seriously unhappy with this charge, I felt it was just a way to make more money. I'm so glad I didn't make the third visit. I don't think I will use them again unfortunately.

Have been to this vets twice and I thought it was good at first but when I went back the 2nd time I had a consultation with a vet. I was paying the monthly pet plan so that included vet visits however I was told after the appointment that it only includes nurse appointments and not appointments where the animal is seen by an actual vet. So I was charged £50 and then the treatments I paid for didn’t even work. Went to vets4pets a month later and the vets there helped straight away and said to get the recommended food online as it would be cheaper and my cat is back to her normal self.

We lost our beloved Goldendoodle Harley two weeks ago. We are absolutely devastated. We had him cremated so he could be with us all the time as he was happiest being with us although I think we probably came second to his numerous ball’s that he liked to collect on his outings. I would like to say a big thank you to Ann for her words and kindness. The sympathy card was very much appreciated and beautiful words hand written. Thank you so much to all at Byron Vets xx

Lovely staff all the time in the world for you thoughts and concerns, always make you feel welcome and listen to your concerns. They did a lovely job of looking after our fur baby when she was very ill and needed 25 hour care all over Christmas.
