I was genuinely shocked by my experience with the female vet at this practice. On previous visits, I had heard her shouting down the phone at customers while I was in the practice. Unfortunately, I later found myself on the receiving end of the same temper.
What was particularly disturbing was how, for no apparent reason, the interaction became extremely personal. She knew what I did for a living and made an insulting comment about people who work in my profession. It had absolutely nothing to do with the care of my animal and struck me as completely inappropriate and unnecessarily hostile. More concerning still, I subsequently discovered that she had sought me out in a professional context and attempted to tarnish my professional reputation.
The vet had called me unexpectedly while I was at work, to try and get me to book in for a treatment that had never been discussed before. It was strange as I had been dealing with the male vet and was happy with the care he had been providing. The male vet who is her husband and who works at the practice, has been wonderful to deal with, courteous, helpful and an absolute pleasure.
Judging by other reviews describing similar confrontational interactions, my experience does not appear to be an isolated complaint. I sincerely hope the practice and the relevant professional regulator take repeated reports about this kind of conduct seriously.
For anyone considering this practice, I would strongly recommend reading the critical reviews carefully. I suspect the positive reviews are being planted by the practice to make the honest reviews less visible.
This is not a place to go for if you genuinely care for your animal and want to be treated in a professional manner.
Amazing vet who spent so much time with my cat. There was no rushing through the appointment. I have to say i would highly reccomend thia vet practise
We Booked our bundle of joy Luna an 8 week old frenchie x pocket bully in to these vets for her first visit with injections and micro chipping. We called around 5pm early evening and managed to secure an appointment the following day. Unfortunatley this had to be moved to the following day as luna didnt meet the requirements for first injections. Although some may find this a pain. This only reassured me that pets came first here. When we did arrive The Staff here was great very welcoming and polite and we was greeted immediatley walking through the door. Once in with the vet they weighed her and checked every thing eyes and Ears And Nose And Mouth as well as Back legs and hips. Also advising about common health issue with breed of dog.
Luna seemed completley relaxed through out this experience with her needs and requirements always coming first.
The micro chipping did make her yelp but the vet did advise this prior to the procedure due to the size of needle. Overall i would give this vets andvthis visit a 5 star.

i’ve been meaning to write this review for some time now, to say how grateful we are for the care our beloved cat borys received at castle veterinary centre.
from the very beginning, everyone treated borys with such gentleness and respect. every member of the team showed patience, kindness and real compassion, not only towards him but also towards us while we were trying to make the best decisions for him.
a special thank you to ewan and brin for their professionalism and support during an incredibly emotional time. they took the time to explain everything clearly, answered our questions with honesty and care, and made sure borys was always treated with dignity and warmth.
we also want to thank the wonderful nurses who looked after him, stroked his little head and made sure he felt safe and comforted. those small acts of kindness meant more to us than words can express.
losing him has been heartbreaking, but knowing he was surrounded by such compassionate people in his final chapter brought us a great deal of comfort.

I feel heartbroken writing this, but I would strongly urge people to think twice before using this veterinary clinic. My dog has been registered there for six years, and until now I had thankfully never needed them for anything serious. This week, that changed when my dog, Holly, suddenly became very unwell.
Because it was the weekend when she first fell ill, I had no choice but to take her to Animal Trust in Thornaby. They were compassionate, reassuring, and genuinely seemed to care. I cannot recommend them enough, and I will now be transferring Holly there permanently.
Following Animal Trust’s advice, when Holly didn’t improve, I took her back to her registered vets during their opening hours. I was told she needed blood tests costing £210, that we would have the results within 24 hours, and that we could then move forward with treatment. As a worried owner, you trust what you’re told, especially when your pet is suffering.
£270 and 48 hours later, I still have a very poorly dog, no results, and no real answers about how we are going to make Holly better. Instead, I was told they needed more time, despite originally promising a 24-hour turnaround. When your pet is part of your family, every hour feels like a lifetime, and being left waiting with no clear communication is devastating.
I truly feel this clinic is more focused on money than on the animals in their care. If your pet is just an ‘animal’ to you, you may not have an issue. But if your pet is your family, your companion, your everything — please choose somewhere that will treat them with the care, urgency, and compassion they deserve.
