Vets Now Nottingham is part of Vets Now, a corporate emergency/out-of-hours provider (described on its site as the UK’s leading provider of pet emergency care). Reviews describe it being used for urgent and overnight cases such as allergic reactions with facial swelling and hives, bite wounds, and referral for emergency spleen surgery for a suspected tumour.
Owners repeatedly mention fast triage and treatment (being seen “within 30 minutes” after a call; another case described as “seen immediately”), plus clear explanations and frequent updates during inpatient stays (one dog kept for 24 hours with ongoing updates). A recurring concern in a detailed review is capacity: one owner reported only one vet on duty and felt a life-saving surgery was delayed, with no update for over four hours until they chased.

I attended my local vet on a Saturday morning after my cocker spaniel presented as unwell. After bloods, an ultrasound scan and an Xray he was found to have a large tumour on his spleen which my vet said needed to be removed as an emergency. My own vet has limited facilities with no overnight facility and so he was referred to Vets now for the spleen and tumour to be removed. I took him straight there. Upon arrival there were two receptions, one for vets now and one for the PDSA. There were a number of people waiting to be seen on the PDSA side with pets who appeared to be presenting with minor complaints. I was shocked to find that there was only one vet on duty who despite being lovely and very knowledgable could clearly not see everyone at the same time. This was apparently the norm. The impression of two receptions gives the impression there is more than one vet to service both vets now and the PDSA. I was quoted £3k for the operation however I was disappointed to find that my dog had not taken priority and that his lifesaving operation had been put back to later in the day. My own vets had sent through all of their findings so no other tests or scans were required. His tumour ruptured as it was taken out. The vet saved his life on this occasion however the delay could have resulted in a very different outcome. I did not hear anything for over 4 hours and had to contact them for an update. My vet did say that the vet did a very neat job of the stitches and the vet did save a sample that I was able to take away and have tested through my own vet’s and unfortunately it was cancerous. Vets now did also only request a £250 payment claiming the rest direct from my insurance. I have however requested that my own vet review their out of hours provision as going forwards I don’t feel confident my dog would receive the care I would expect when considering the costs involved. I deliberated between 3 and 4 stars taking all of the above into account however my boy is still here and going strong 💪🏼

Unfortunately we required the use of Vets Now on Christmas Day. We were welcomed by Paige who offered lots of reassurance. We then saw Gonçalo who had excellent ‘bedside’ manner despite our dog being quite nervous. He also could tell we were anxious about any prognosis so also treated us with empathy and compassion to what was happening. Everything was explained thoroughly, our dog was treated with extreme care and attention. Over the 24hrs he was with VetsNow we were kept updated and nothing was too much trouble. Thankfully he’s now on the mend. Big thanks to Gonçalo, Paige, Rebecca and Jacqueline and anybody else involved in the care of our boy who is now recovering at home. Always a scary experience, but not being in our hometown let alone own vets added to this but the service was exceptional and I’d definitely recommend! Building is brand new and clean with lots of rooms and modern facilities.

Commendable is the only word that comes to mind. We genuinely cannot thank the staff enough for their care, time and patience. We note the comments/reviews made on cost and, frankly whilst yes, it is an expensive endeavour, if they weren't open to look after sickly or wounded pets, then who would be? A huge 5 stars from us. We hope never to have to visit again (being an A&E service!!) but we know that if we need Vets Now, they are there to help.

I visited this morning at 2.30 am as my dog was suffering with an extreme allergic reaction to something, swelling fast and covered in hives. He has addisons disease and the vet knew all about addisons giving me immediate confidence. I rang them and the vet kept me calm over the phone and explained what to do. I drove there and they were waiting for me. They worked quickly and efficiently but kept reassuring me and showed really kindness to me and ny dog, and I have no doubt they saved my dogs life. He's still recovering but he's here and improving by the hour. Thank you will never be enough.

Ollie our black labrador relieved a bite to his front left leg and after dressing it and leaving it a few hours we decided he needed checking by the vet, we phoned vets now and were able to be seen within 30 minutes of our call. They were ready as soon as we walked in and the Vet took him off into a treatment room where she examined his wounds. When she brought him back she assured us there was no serious damage, she had given him a pain killer injection and she prescribed him some pain killer and antibiotics. Ollie is back walking on all fours, but we are still following the Vets advice of maximum rest. The vet and the Vets Now surgery are exceptional.

Out of hours emergency for my sausage dog after a bee sting reaction, seen immediately and the vet was very lovely and made the experience swift and stress free, the fee was very high but luckily insurance covers it.

I had to take my boy to Vets Now the other day as he seemed very poorly, but my usual vet was closing soon. Everyone I interacted with was great, exceedingly kind and patient. I am incredibly happy with how Jack was treated, he is usually very scared at the vets, but he was walking around and investigating during the consultation - which gave me the impression he wasn't stressed at all. He is better now, sleeping on his heated blanket. Thank you for your kindness and hard work, it is very much appreciated!
